Galashiels Amateur Swimming Club

Galashiels Amateur Swimming Club is based at Galashiels Swimming Pool in the Scottish Borders and is for swimmers from age 7 upwards. The club aims to help swimmers improve with coaching from the clubs volunteer coaching team

The Old Gala Public Baths opened on 13.09.1915 gifted by Mr & Mrs A Dickson and Gala ASC was founded in Oct 1915.
Gents were training on Mondays and Ladies on Tuesdays.
In 1916 Gala Town Council agreed that club members could swim after 6:30 pm for tuppence for adults and a penny for juveniles.

Gala ASC is a long established swimming club whose aim is to help swimmers to improve their strokes, fitness and techniques in a friendly and sociable environment.

 

Club coaches and helpers support swimmers to reach their personal goals whether that is competitive swimming or swimming for exercise and improvement.

 

The club is run entirely by volunteers who generously spend considerable amounts of their own time either at poolside or helping organise behind the scenes.

Help from parents and older club or ex club members is always gratefully received - don't be shy - just speak to one of the club officials!
